9.0 years ago

The Methacton Girls Track and Field team knows that many teams in the PAC 10 are much improved from a year ago, but they opened up the PAC 10 season with an extremely strong showing against visiting Boyertown, winning easily by a score of 113 - 37.

There were many highlights on the sunny afternoon, the top being the record-breaking performance by senior Te' Ellis. In only the second meet of the season, Te' broke her own school record, winning the shot put with a mark of 37' 10". She later won the discus by over 7', with a mark of 101' 6".  Fellow seniors Nikki Serratore and Jenny Martin were equally impressive in their efforts. Serratore first won the 300M Hurdles in 48.2 seconds, then won the javelin with a throw of 123' 0" and later won the Triple Jump with a mark of 35' 3". She also finished 2nd to Jenny Martin in the 100M Hurdles. Martin not only was the winner in the 100M Hurdles, but she also won the Long Jump with a mark of 17' 2" and was 2nd in the javelin with a throw of 112' 8". Caroline Duffy looks to be fully recovered from her illness she suffered over the Indoor season with some amazing performances.  She was the winner in the 100M Dash with a time of 12.2 seconds, the winner in the 200M Dash in 25.4 seconds, the anchor on the winning 4x100 Relay with Kelly Groth, Gianna Fazio and Amy Domenick in a time of 50.1 seconds and also was a member of the winning 4x400 Relay with Groth, Angela Ramsden and Carly Foster.  Groth not only was on each of the winning relays, but she also placed 2nd in both the 100M and 200M. Ramsden also had a fine afternoon, winning the 400M and placing 3rd in the 800M. Other event winners included Fallon Brown, winning the High Jump with a 5' 1" performance and Sarah Burry, winning the Pole Vault with a clearance of 9' 6"

The Lady Warriors will travel to Cumberland Valley on Saturday for the Bruce Dallas Invitational.  They will return to the PAC 10 schedule next Wednesday when they face an extremely gifted and unbeaten Perkiomen Valley team and a young and upcoming Pottsgrove squad in a tri-meet at Pottsgrove.
