Girls Track and Field sending 12 athletes to States following outstanding Meet of Champs performances

Updated on 06/10/2022

The Girls Track and Field team will once again be well represented at this years PA Indoor Track and Field State Championships next weekend.  This marks the 17th consecutive season that an athlete from the Lady Warriors will be competing at the highest level the state has to offer. This year, they will send a dozen to Penn State on March 1.

On Friday night, the girls competed at Lehigh University at the Meet of Champions, showcasing the best of the 95 schools in the association throughout the Delaware Valley.  Senior Aghina Marshall put together 2 of her bests jumps of the season to secure her spots at States. She placed 3rd in the Long Jump with a leap of 17' 11.5" (currently #5 in PA) and later had a career best in the triple jump with a leap of 36' 6.75" (#10 in PA).  Fellow senior Nicolette Serratore also had an outstanding meet, having her 2 best performances of the season. She placed 7th in the 60M Hurdles with a time of 9.30 seconds and later placed 4th in the triple jump with a mark of 36' 4.5" (currently #11 in PA).  Both performances were State Qualifying.  Another senior who punched her ticket for states is Jenny Martin.  Her performance in the trials of the 60M Hurdles (9.25 seconds) and her 8th place finish in the finals (9.31 seconds) was enough to put her into the State competition for the 4th straight year.  Although just short of the State Mark, junior Sarah Burry had her best pole vault of the season, clearing 10' 0" and placing 7th.  Also just short of state qualifying, junior Kelly Groth advanced to the finals of the 60M Dash and placed 12th overall with a time of 8.14 seconds.

Although PA changed their requirements for competitors to the State Championships, making it significantly more difficult for individuals and teams to qualify, the Lady Warriors will be one of the few teams in the state to send multiple relays to the meet.  The 4x200 relay of Kelly Groth, Carly Foster, Amy Domenick, Gianna Fazio, Rainah Dunham and Caroline Duffy have qualified, as has the 4x400 relay of Jess Holub, Lauren Prusacki, Rainah Dunham, Angela Ramsden, Amy Domenick and Gianna Fazio.
