Girls Track and Field lights up New York

Updated on 06/10/2022

A school record that has been on the books for 9 years has been the goal of this years 4x200 relay team. A member of that record relay team, Ryann Krais, visited the team this winter and knew that this was a group that could set the new mark. On Sunday, the 4x200 relay team of Amy Domenick, Gianna Fazio, Rainah Dunahm and Caroline Duffy shattered the old mark with a time of 1:45.33. Several members of that group were far from done for the day. Domenick won the sophomore 55M Dash with the 2nd fastest time in school history of 7.46 seconds. She later went on to PR in the sophomore 200M, but could not compete in the finals due to a conflict with the relay. Another athlete in the same situation was Caroline Duffy. Her time of 25.22 seconds in the 200M was not only a PR, but is also #5 in PA for the season. Although she qualified for the finals, she was also unable to run due to the time conflict. Junior Rainah Dunham placed 4th in the Long Jump with a leap of 16' .5".  Another athlete taking home 2 medals for the day was sophomore Lauren Prusacki. Setting a PR in both the 55M Dash and the 200M, Prusacki placed 3rd and 4th respectively in those events. Senior Sarah Burry had her best performance of the season, placing 3rd in the pole vault with a mark of 10' 0". Tianna Crippen added 2 top 10 performances. She finished 7th in the triple jump with an indoor best of 33' 7.5 " and 9th in the long jump.

The girls return to competition on Friday with another meet at Lehigh University.

Duffy and Dunham each take home 2 medals at Meet of Champions for Girls Track and Field

Updated on 06/10/2022

Caroline Duffy is about to put a close on an incredible indoor season, but before doing so, she decided to set her 3rd school record in the past 2 months. In January, Duffy already set the new mark in the 55M Dash and was part of the record-breaking 4x200 relay. On Friday night at Lehigh University, the senior crushed the old school record in the 60M Dash, first during the trials of the event, then a second time in the finals, on her way to a 5th place finish at the DVGT Meet of Champions. Her mark of 7.86 seconds currently ranks as #12 in Pennsylvania. Duffy later competed in the 200M Dash, finishing 3rd overall with a time of 25.61 seconds. She is currently ranked 6th in PA in that event. Finally, she anchored the 4x200 relay with Amy Domenick, Gianna Fazio and Lauren Prusacki as they placed 8th overall. Prusacki had earlier set a huge PR in her open 200M Dash with a time of 26.57 seconds.

Another athlete having an incredible winter is junior Rainah Dunham. Dunham set her focus this season on the jumping events. With the pressure of knowing only the top 15 in PA qualify for the State Championship Meet next weekend at Penn State, Dunham's clutch PR of 17' 5.25" on her final long jump sent her from 16th in the State and just out of the competition to 11th and looking forward to competing again the best. She finished 5th overall in the meet. She also had an outstanding night in the triple jump, finishing 4th with a leap of 35' 1" and is currently 13th in the state in that event. Sophomore Fallon Brown also walked away from the meet with two top 10 finishes, placing 7th in the triple jump and 8th in the High Jump. Senior Sarah Burry cleared 9' 6" in the Pole Vault to finish 7th in that event.

The Lady Warriors will be sending 6 girls to the State Championships, covering 5 different events. They have also qualified 4 athletes for the Indoor National Championships to be held in New York City in the mid-March.
