17 medals and 8 District Qualifiers headline Girls Track and Field opener at PW

Updated on 06/10/2022

Nicolette Serratore and the rest of the Methacton Girls track and Field team did not let the 20 degree wind chills on Saturday impact their performance at the PTFCA Classic held at PW High School. Serratore won the javelin with a throw of 125' 1" and the triple jump with a leap of 36' 2.5" and was named the Female Athlete of the Meet. Both marks have qualified her for the District 1 Championships in May, but she was only one of several athletes to reach the qualifying standard.  In all, there were 8 district qualifiers and 17 medal winners.

Fellow senior Jenny Martin had a stellar day, first winning the Long Jump with a mark of 16' 4".  She then finished 2nd in the jav with a district qualifying distance of 123' 0".  Later, competing in an event she had not done since 8th grade, Martin placed 3rd in the triple jump, with another district mark of 35' 0".  Senior Tae Ellis started her season off well, winning the shot put with a distance of 34' 3", qualifying for districts and also placing 2nd in the discus.  Junior Caroline Duffy had a fantastic opening to her 2015 season, winning the 200M dash with a district time of 26.14 seconds, placing 2nd in the 100M dash and also anchoring the 4x100 relay with Amy Domenick, Kelly Groth and Gianna Fazio to a 2nd place finish and a district mark of 50.78 seconds.  Rounding out the district qualifiers was freshman Fallon Brown in the high jump.  Brown set a PR in the event, clearing 5' 1" and placing 2nd.

Other medalist for the Lady Warriors were:  Rainah Dunham in the long jump (2nd), Lauren Earnshaw in the Long Jump (3rd), Amy Domenick in the 100M (3rd), Emily Nice in the Discus (3rd), the Distance Medley Team of Lexi Laconi, Emily Owens, Lauren Engleman and Abby Konkoly (4th) and Lexi Short in the javelin (5th).

The team hopes to open their PAC 10 season by hosting Boyertown on Wednesday.

Girls Track cruises in PAC 10 opener behind Ellis, Martin, Serratore and Duffy

Updated on 06/10/2022

The Methacton Girls Track and Field team knows that many teams in the PAC 10 are much improved from a year ago, but they opened up the PAC 10 season with an extremely strong showing against visiting Boyertown, winning easily by a score of 113 - 37.

There were many highlights on the sunny afternoon, the top being the record-breaking performance by senior Te' Ellis. In only the second meet of the season, Te' broke her own school record, winning the shot put with a mark of 37' 10". She later won the discus by over 7', with a mark of 101' 6".  Fellow seniors Nikki Serratore and Jenny Martin were equally impressive in their efforts. Serratore first won the 300M Hurdles in 48.2 seconds, then won the javelin with a throw of 123' 0" and later won the Triple Jump with a mark of 35' 3". She also finished 2nd to Jenny Martin in the 100M Hurdles. Martin not only was the winner in the 100M Hurdles, but she also won the Long Jump with a mark of 17' 2" and was 2nd in the javelin with a throw of 112' 8". Caroline Duffy looks to be fully recovered from her illness she suffered over the Indoor season with some amazing performances.  She was the winner in the 100M Dash with a time of 12.2 seconds, the winner in the 200M Dash in 25.4 seconds, the anchor on the winning 4x100 Relay with Kelly Groth, Gianna Fazio and Amy Domenick in a time of 50.1 seconds and also was a member of the winning 4x400 Relay with Groth, Angela Ramsden and Carly Foster.  Groth not only was on each of the winning relays, but she also placed 2nd in both the 100M and 200M. Ramsden also had a fine afternoon, winning the 400M and placing 3rd in the 800M. Other event winners included Fallon Brown, winning the High Jump with a 5' 1" performance and Sarah Burry, winning the Pole Vault with a clearance of 9' 6"

The Lady Warriors will travel to Cumberland Valley on Saturday for the Bruce Dallas Invitational.  They will return to the PAC 10 schedule next Wednesday when they face an extremely gifted and unbeaten Perkiomen Valley team and a young and upcoming Pottsgrove squad in a tri-meet at Pottsgrove.

Girls Track and Field dominates unbeaten PV and Pottsgrove in PAC 10 Clash to stay unbeaten

Updated on 06/10/2022

The girls track and field team put the foot on the gas at the start of the meet and never let up as they ran their season mark to 3 - 0 with two PAC 10 victories. Perkiomen Valley was determined to put an end to Methacton's 10 yr unbeaten streak, but the Lady Warriors ended their dream early, winning the meet 101-49.  Methacton also beat Pottsgrove 144 - 6.

The first event on the track was the 300M Hurdles, where Caroline Duffy and Nicolette Serratore placed 1st and 2nd to set the tone. In the field, Jenny Martin and Aghina Marshall went 1/2 in the Long Jump, Fallon Brown and Marshall went 1/2 in the High Jump, Sarah Burry/Brown went 1/2 in the Pole Vault and Tae Ellis and Emily Nice went 1/2 in the discus in all of the opening events. Those performances, coupled with the surprising 1600M win by Abby Konkoly and the dominance in the remaining events by a fired up squad led to the complete team victory.  Other event winners included Jenny Martin (100M Hurdles), Nicolette Serratore (triple jump and javelin), 4x100 relay (Amy Domenick, Kelly Groth, Gianna Fazio and Rainah Dunham), Tae Ellis (Shot Put) and the 4x400 Relay (Jess Holub, Rainah Dunham, Lauren Prusacki and Angela Ramsden).

The girls return to their PAC 10 schedule on Monday against a 3 - 1 OJR team.

Ellis and Serratore crowned District 1 Champions as they lead Girls Track and Field to the State Championships

Updated on 06/10/2022

Senior Tejarra Ellis was a late bloomer for the Lady Warriors Track and Field team, but she has now begun to realize her potential. Although not a member of the team in her freshman year, she has improved each year in both the shot put and the discus, the latter eventually becoming her strongest event.  Tejarra not only qualified for the PIAA State Championships for the first time, but did so in grand fashion by winning the discus in a school record throw of 133' 1" at the PIAA District 1 Championships on Saturday.

For the first time in 7 years, the girls crowned 2 District Champions.  Nicolette Serratore decided to change javelins prior to the meet and it paid huge dividends. Serratore broke the school record by 5 feet, tossing the winning throw 139' 0".  The only challenger to her mark ended up being her teammate, Jenny Martin.  Martin, also using a new javelin, also broke the old school record, her throw was 136' 2".

Those were not the only outstanding performances for the Lady Warriors as they battled almost 80 schools in District 1. Serratore will also be competing in the triple at States, as she finished 6th in the event with a state qualifying mark of 36' 8.75". Aghina Marshall will also be competing, but she will be in the Long Jump. Her 6th place finish of 17' 6.5" qualified her for the 3rd year in a row. Caroline Duffy will also be making a return trip to Shippensburg, courtesy of her 6th place finish in the 300M Hurdles. Duffy and Martin fell victim of the incredible depth of District 1 in a second event.  Duffy finished 9th in the 200M with a State qualifying time, but the maximum any district is allowed to take is 8.  Martin suffered the same fate in the 100M Hurdles, also placing 9th.  The 4x100 Relay of Amy Domenick, Kelly Groth, Gianna Fazio and Caroline Duffy easily ran the state qualifying mark, but finished 10th overall.

As a team, Methacton finished 5th overall in District 1.

Girls Track and Field caps off the "Decade of Dominance" with a blowout PAC 10 Championship win!

Updated on 06/10/2022

Hard Work.  Talent. Depth. Those have been the cornerstones for the Girls Track and Field program for the past 10 years and it was never more evident than what transpired over the weekend at the PAC 10 Track and Field Championships.  The Lady Warriors dominated the meet from start to finish, amassing 218.5 pts to second place Perkiomen Valley's 148 pts. The Lady Warriors were the only school to score in 17 of the 18 events and earned 9 gold medals in those events. The win continued the "Decade of Dominance", in which the program has won 87 consecutive dual meets, amassing 10 straight undefeated seasons and now taking home their 10th straight League Championship.

Leading the way for Methacton was Caroline Duffy.  The junior ran a season's best in the 300M hurdles to easily win the event by 2 seconds.  She then narrowly missed winning the 100M Dash by .03 seconds (also in a season's best time), but that only seemed to spark her next 2 events.  Duffy went on to win the 400M run with a personal best time of 56.99 and later won the 200M with a season's best time of 25.30.  Where depth has always been an asset for the team is in their field events.  Seniors Nikki Serratore and Tejarra Ellis continued that tradition. Serratore won both the triple jump and the javelin (she also placed 3rd in the 100M Hurdles), two events that have put her in the top 6 seeds at the Districts 1 Championships next week. Tejarra Ellis won both the Shot Put and the Discus, the latter being the #2 seed in District 1. Fellow senior Jenny Martin was as busy as any athlete competing, winning the 100M Hurdles, 3rd in the javelin, 4th in the long jump and 5th in the triple jump. The other gold medal was garnered by the 4x100 relay of Amy Domenick, Lauren Prusacki, Gianna Fazio and Tianna Crippen, winning the event by more than a second.

Several other athletes contributed with points in multiple events.  Those athletes include: Amy Domenick (100M, 200M, 300M Hurdles and 4x100), Aghina Marshall (Long Jump, Triple Jump and High Jump), Rainah Dunham (Long Jump, 100M and 200M), Abby Konkoly (1600M and 3200M), Tianna Crippen (Triple Jump, 200M and 4x100), Lauren Prusacki (100M, 4x100 and 4x400), Fallon Brown (Pole Vault and High Jump), and Gianna Fazio (200M and 4x100).

The Lady Warriors travel to Coatesville on Thursday for the District 1 Championships.

Girls Track and Field caps off 10th consecutive undefeated regular season by blowing out Spring-Ford and Upper Perk

Updated on 06/10/2022

The Girls Track and Field team continued their "Decade of Dominance" by beating Spring-Ford 103-37 and Upper Perk 134 - 15 to wrap up their 10th consecutive undefeated regular season.  The two wins moved their undefeated streak to 87 straight.  The last time the team suffered a loss was to Wissahickon on May 2, 2005.

The meet featured a mix of veteran standouts and young talent. Caroline Duffy took home 3 wins on the track, the 300M Hurdles, 400M and 200M. Nikki Serratore won both the Long Jump and the Triple Jump.  Jenny Martin ousted the field in the javelin and won the 100M Hurdles. Tae Ellis won both the shot put and discus. Kelly Groth raced home with another 100M win as well as teaming up with Rainah Dunham, Gianna Fazio and Amy Domenick to win the 4x100. Fallon Brown was the winner in the Pole Vault and Abby Konkoly won the 1600M Run. The 4x400 relay of Jess Holub, Angela Ramsden, Carly Foster and Lauren Prusacki were also victorious.

The girls travel to West Chester Henderson on Friday for their last Invitational of the season, before gearing up for the PAC 10 Championships the following weekend.

Freshman 4x100 Penn Relays win highlights Girls Track and Field Outstanding weekend

Updated on 06/10/2022

The Girls Track and Field team finished a span of 4 meets in 5 days, spending 2 days at the 121st running of the Penn Relays Carnival. The freshman Girls 4x100 Relay (pictured below) blew away the rest of the field on route to a gold medal and coveted "Penn Relays Wheel". Lauren Prusacki, Amy Domenick, Alyssa Wadsworth and Katie Sorber ran 51.28, more than .7 second faster than their seed time to come away with the win.  This marks the 2nd time in the past 4 years that Methacton has won the event, having earned a medal in all 6 years the event has been run.

The Varsity 4x100 also had an extraordinary race, winning their heat in 49.48 seconds, a time that is under the state qualifying time. Rainah Dunham, Kelly Groth, Gianna Fazio and Caroline Duffy teamed up for the winning performance.  The Varsity 4x400 Relay team notched a silver medal, running their best time of the year in less than ideal conditions on Thursday.  Battling unseasonably cold temperatures, fierce winds and rain, the girls still ran over 2 seconds faster than their best time of the season.

On Saturday, the freshman and sophomores competed at the Pottsgrove Invitational and continued to excel.Freshman Fallon Brown cleared a PR and Meet Record of 5' 2" in the High Jump to win the event. Lauren Prusacki ran away with the 100M Dash, tying the meet record of 12.4 seconds. Amy Domenick won the 200M Dash in 26.3 seconds and placed 2nd in both the 300M Hurdles and the Long Jump.  Overall, it was an incredible weekend for the Girls program.

These 3 meets were preceded by a 138 - 12 win vs Pottstown on Tuesday, improving their PAC 10 record to 7-0 on the season and extending their almost 10-yr unbeaten streak to 85 consecutive wins. The Lady Warriors wrap up their PAC 10 schedule on Wednesday with a tri-meet at Spring-Ford and against Upper Perikiomen.

5 School Records and an amazing day by Tejarra Ellis Headline Girls Track and Field at Great Valley Relays

Updated on 06/10/2022

The Girls Track and Field team has had their way with the PAC 10 opponents, storming to a 6-0 season, but Saturday they took their talents to Great Valley against 25 of the stronger teams in District 1. The results for the Lady Warriors were:  4 event wins, 5 school records and medals in 11 different events.

Senior Tejarra Ellis had a meet to remember, setting the individual school record in the discus with a throw of 128' 6" (Current a PA #5) and also teaming up with Jordan Hilker for the school record relay in that event. Tae then teamed up with Nicole Cooper to set the school record in the shot put relay after her 36' 6" performance.  Another school record that fell was one that was set by the senior tandem of Nicolette Serratore and Jenny Martin.  The two combined to break their own school and meet record in the javelin relay, with Serratore throwing 129' 9" (currently #1 in District 1) and Martin throwing 118' 0" (she is currently #2 in District 1). A 5th school record was set on the track as the 4x200 Relay of Tianna Crippen, Amy Domenick, Kelly Groth and Gianna Fazio blazed to a 1:45.64 time, breaking the old record by over 1.5 seconds.

Not only were the records impressive, but so were how the team fared against the outstanding competition. The Shuttle Hurdle Relay of Jenny Martin, Nicolette Serratore, Abbey Dungan and Katie Sorber came only .07 seconds away from breaking the school record, but pulled away to win the event in 1:04.81. Serratore teamed up with Aghina Marshall to win the triple jump relay by more than 3 feet with a combined mark of 70' 6.5". The Pole Vault Relay of Fallon Brown and Sarah Burry, each clearing 9', easily won the event by 1.5'.

Other medalist included the High Jump Relay (Brown and Lea Dungan - 2nd), Long Jump Relay (Martin and Marshall - 2nd), the Sprint Medley Relay of Angela Ramsden, Carly Foster, Rainah Dunham and Ryan DeOrio (4th) and the 4x400 Relay of Ramsden, Jess Holub, Gianna Fazio and Kelly Groth (5th).  Although just missing out on a medal by placing 7th, the 4x100 Relay of Katie Sorber, Lauren Prusacki, Alyssa Wadsworth and Amy Domenick also had an outstanding performance. The four athletes are just freshman and will be competing at Penn Relays in the freshman 4x100, but their 7th place performance was against the Varsity of all the other teams.

The Lady Warriors return to PAC 10 action on Tuesday when they host their final meet of the season against Pottstown.

Updated on 06/10/2022
